At Akash Systems, Inc. (San Francisco, CA), we design and make some of the world's most energy efficient RF Power Amplifiers, and the CubeSats (small LEO orbital satellites) enabled by them. Our innovation is made possible by the breakthrough materials we use: gallium nitride (GaN)-on-Diamond wafers.
In GaN-on-Diamond, the hottest parts of a transistor is brought to within tens of nanometers of diamond - the world's most thermally conductive material. The effect is a cooler state of operation - dramatically improving energy efficiency, and reducing a system's size, weight, and operating costs.
