The V-2 Rocket was the world’s first long-range guided ballistic missile. The V-2 was also know in German as Vergeltungswaffe 2 or “Retribution Weapon 2”. It’s technical name was the Aggregat 4 (A4).
The V-2 was powered by a liquid-propellant rocket engine and developed during the Second World War in Germany. The V-2 rocket became the first artificial object to travel into space by crossing the Kármán line with the vertical launch of MW 18014 on 20 June 1944.
